DFI.Money or Yearn Finance II is a decentralized finance yield farming blockchain platform for the users that want to determine the product of their choice and use them for their benefit. The platform works as an aggregator that automatically puts the crypto assets of the users to receive high-yield profits. The project is aimed at users who want to increase their returns by providing liquidity.
The YFII platform was forked from the Yearn Finance I blockchain that was developed through Yearn Improvement Proposals. The fork was created in 2020 after many members of the YFI platform decided to separate to protect the protocol from the whales when they rejected the YIP-8 proposal.
When the chain was forked, the community decided to implement a different token emission model that was rejected on the previous chain in the new project. The YIP-8 model is similar to the Bitcoin halving model — every four years the number of tokens awarded to the miners is halved until all the tokens are mined. This algorithm protects the scarcity of the tokens and prevents the endless creation of the tokens. In DFI.Money the halving happens every week, so the newly added tokens are cut in half every 7 days to facilitate a fair distribution to the community.
Another new feature was introduced by DFI.Money crypto is Vault — a farming pool aggregator that uses a set of strategy contracts to provide users with a chance to win higher APR (annual percentage rate). It is a stand-out offering for retail traders that can deposit any token supported by DFI.Money platform and then their rewards are generated automatically.
Because the project uses a decentralized mechanism, anyone can create and suggest their own strategies that later are voted for, and the ones with the most votes are being implemented automatically. The Vault also helps reduce transaction fees for the traders who deposit and withdraw their tokens.
The DFI.Money platform runs on a Proof-of-Deposit mechanism that uses a set of tokens called iTokens. Those assets bear the interest and are received by the users when they deposit their tokens into the vaults. The tokens can also be staked or used as collateral for debts.
According to the official website of the project, the protocol is fully owned by the community and doesn’t offer rewards “for nothing”, as token distributions for developers.
YFII is a native ERC-20 token of the platform that was implemented without ICO and pre-mining and offers governance rights for the holders. It was developed to become a key to the world of DeFi. YFII crypto provides pool liquidity and is also used for income allocation and voting for proposals.
The token has a fixed supply of 40 000 coins and this number can’t be changed because minting keys were sent to the “blackhole” address that cannot be accessed by anyone. The link with the transaction details was shared by the project developers.
There are two pools on DFI.Money platform that supplies tokens through yield farming, where users can stake BAL and CRV tokens and get YFII as a reward. The supply of YFII tokens is equally spread between both pools with 20 000 in each of them.
