Stargate Finance (STG) serves as an omnichain-native asset bridge, strategically addressing the blockchain trilemma, which posits that achieving decentralization, security, and speed concurrently is challenging for any blockchain. Stargate Finance was created by LayerZero Labs and became a pivotal component of the omnichain protocol designed to facilitate seamless interoperability among major cryptocurrency networks. The platform was launched in March 2022, marking a significant milestone as the pioneering cross-chain bridge application.

Coinciding with the platform's launch, the accomplished cryptocurrency developer 0xMaki joined the LayerZero team on the same day. Stargate eliminates the need for lengthy confirmation times by employing a lock+mint and burn+redeem mechanism. This process involves burning tokens at the source and minting new ones on the destination blockchain, ensuring instant guaranteed finality and unified liquidity.

The platform utilizes an advanced cross-chain bridge mechanism alongside the delta algorithm, effectively addressing the bridging trilemma. STG serves as the inherent governance and utility token for Stargate Finance, offering multiple functionalities within the protocol. Token holders can choose to stake $STG, provide liquidity, and engage in the governance of the platform. Staking $STG also grants token holders STG, Stargate's voting escrow token.

The protocol employs a time-weighted reward system, where stakers receive an increased amount of STG as they commit to longer lock-up periods. The STG token has a total supply of 1 billion, and as of November 21, 2023, the circulating supply is 204,338,417 STG.

The Average Fees on Stargate Finance

The average fee on Stargate Finance for non-STG token transfers is 0.06%. In addition to this, Stargate transfers might involve a pool rebalance fee, which depends on the imbalance between the source and destination transfer pools in relation to their equilibrium weights. It's noteworthy that STG token transfers do not trigger a pool rebalancing fee.
