What is AMP?
Flexa Network is a blockchain-based payment network that aims to enable instant and secure cryptocurrency payments at retail stores. AMP is the native token of the Flexa Network and is used as collateral to secure transactions on the network. It helps facilitate quick and secure transfers of value, allowing users to make cryptocurrency payments while merchants receive payment in their preferred fiat currency.
Flexa Network is designed to be decentralized, meaning it does not rely on a central authority to process transactions. This enhances security and reduces the risk of censorship or interference.
Flexa Network was launched in 2019. Flexa was founded by Tyler Spalding, Trevor Filter, Zachary Kilgore, and Daniel McCabe. The primary goal of the Flexa Network is to facilitate cryptocurrency payments at retail stores, making it easier for users to spend their digital assets in everyday transactions. The founders aimed to address the challenge of mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies in daily transactions. Flexa's mission was to create a payment network that enables instant and secure cryptocurrency payments at various retail locations.
Flexa's CEO, Tyler Spalding, initiated the Amp project in collaboration with the Flexa team. Possessing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a master's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Spalding furthered his education at Harvard Business School. In 2011, he successfully earned an M.B.A. from MIT. With a background dating back to 2011, Spalding has been actively involved in investing and launching various blockchain projects.
Flexa uses the AMP token as collateral to secure cryptocurrency transactions. When users make a payment using a supported cryptocurrency, the corresponding amount in AMP tokens is temporarily locked in a smart contract to secure the transaction. This provides merchants with the assurance that they will be paid and that the payment is settled in real-time. It's an ERC-20 token, meaning it is built on the Ethereum blockchain.
The use of collateral in the form of AMP tokens helps secure transactions on the network. The decentralized nature of the blockchain also contributes to the security of the platform.
Originally named Flexacoin (FXC), the Amp token was transformed in September 2020. The upgrade aimed to enhance transaction speed, enabling near-instant transactions, and resulted in the rebranding of the token to Amp (AMP). Following this upgrade, collateral operations are conducted entirely on-chain in a single transaction, contributing to the improved security of the collateralized transaction system, as stated by Flexa. Holders of Flexacoin were mandated to migrate their old tokens to the new Amp token.
Smart contracts are employed to facilitate transactions on the Flexa Network. When a user makes a payment using a supported cryptocurrency, a corresponding amount of AMP tokens is temporarily locked in a smart contract to secure the transaction.
Smart contracts known as collateral managers have the ability to lock, release, and redirect collateral within designated partitions as necessary to facilitate various value transfer activities. Amp accommodates a diverse range of use cases for collateralization. Additionally, it introduces the concept of predefined partition strategies, offering unique capabilities, such as collateral models that allow tokens to be staked without being moved from their original address.
Flexa allows merchants to accept payments in cryptocurrency without directly handling the digital assets. Merchants receive payments in their preferred fiat currency, providing them with a seamless experience.
Via Flexa, sellers or merchants incur a commission for embracing cryptocurrency payments. In the event of a transfer issue, the network compensates the merchant for any associated costs. Should a merchant not receive the designated crypto assets, the required amount of AMP for covering the losses is liquidated, with the staked AMP tokens serving as collateral.
Flexa provides a Software Development Kit (SDK) developed in collaboration with ConsenSys, leveraging the Ethereum blockchain. This SDK is designed to streamline both in-store and online payment processes.
The AMP token is deployed as an ERC-20 asset, but it also exists on Solana and Near Protocol. The total supply of the AMP token is 99,213,408,535, and as of December 13, 2023, the circulating supply is 42,227,702,186 AMP.

One can buy AMP (AMP) on various platforms such as Binance, Coinbase Exchange, KuCoin, Uniswap, Gemini, SushiSwap, Bittrex, Huobi, Gate.io, Crypto.com Exchange, LBank, Bitrue, WhiteBIT, XT.COM, and several other exchanges.

The potential for AMP to reach $0.0113 by 2025 positions it as a promising investment option. According to Coin Arbitrage Bot predictions, there's an anticipated growth trajectory with an estimated value of around $0.004826 in 2023, potentially surging to $0.016873 by the close of 2025.
